Who is Cathy Fee?
I am an award-winning business writer and editor and the principal of CSF Communications, a one-woman, independent corporate writing and consulting company that provides employee communications materials to large corporations. I bring a total of more than 30 years’ experience in corporate communications and news reporting to my clients, who are mainly employee communication managers in large corporations.
I have written on such diverse subjects as telecommunications, pharmaceutical, energy and environmental issues, and benefits. I enjoy the challenge of making complex issues understandable and weaving strategic messages into copy that intrigues and informs readers. I have been a key player on employee communications teams in two high-profile corporate mergers.
A former journalist, I bring a resourceful, pro-active, problem-solving approach to my assignments, always meet deadlines, and enjoy being part of a team. My clients say I am “remarkably quick” and “great at summarizing details down to the most salient points.”
My services range from writing a single article for print or online publications, to managing a publication from concept to distribution, to preparing communications plans. Clients have included Ingersoll Rand, Hess Corporation, Johnson & Johnson, PepsiCo, American Standard, and AT&T.
Some representative projects:
- Researched and wrote articles explaining a large international company’s presence in India.
- Researched and wrote a series of articles explaining the company’s purchasing policies.
- Researched and wrote a weekly online publication summarizing news stories about the client’s customers and competition.
- Created and managed an annual schedule for articles I wrote about the new products being shown at trade shows worldwide by client.
Writing has been a common thread throughout my career. In addition to my 13 years at CSF Communications, my background encompasses 10 years of corporate employee communications work at AT&T, as well as 10 years of newspaper reporting and speechwriting.
My work has won many awards and other recognition: Under my editorship, AT&T’s retiree publication and a personality profile I wrote each won international IABC Gold Quills and Clarion Awards. An article on how the company supported employees with AIDS elicited a letter of recognition from President Clinton to AT&T’s chairman. As a newspaper reporter, my investigative work disclosed the existence of a large toxic landfill and prompted aggressive federal action.
I hold a B.A. in Journalism from Rowan University, with a minor in Business Administration.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, travel, learning to speak Italian, swimming and kayaking.
